In 2007, WASI collectively logged 358.5 hours of the volunteer hours reaching out to 10,098 people in the community. Our "small" organization sets the standard in public outreach for the rest astronomy clubs in the nation. As national outreach leaders (according to NASA's Night Sky Network), we are constant testing and inventing educational techinques for weird and complex science topics that find their way to nationally distributed educational kits.
We have many members willing and able to share their knowledge and expertise in astronomy.
WASI conducts many outreach events throughout the month. These events include the following:
Planetarium Shows at Bear Branch Nature Center
Star Parties at Soldiers Delight and Bear Branch Nature Center
CLC Programs
Library programs
and other events such as fairs, and festivals.
